About language arts for kids: Students who need to learn English as a language constitute a significant and growing segment of our nation's student population. Teachers of these students face multiple challenges. These newcomers are likely to need time adjusting to their new environment too. To make learning English easier it helps to empathize with your student's situation. Help foster a sense of belonging, assign a buddy who can help the student find his/her way around and learn basic classroom processes, and encourage family involvement.
